WS1040: How do I make the indicator LED flash 2 different colors?

I read on the wiki or somewhere else a while back mentioning that the top LED could flash Red and Blue but I never figured out how to do that in Scanner and never found an option for it on Win500 so just assumed it was mistaken information.

Now years later I see someone on YouTube doing actually doing something similar but with the LED illuminating constant green with a blue flash on top.

Do I need to buy one of the other PSR500 softwares from another company to do or is this done by some sort of intentional glitch or what?

The only thing I've seen in the PSR-500/etc. is a single color and flash on/off. The TRX-1 & TRX-2 have the ability to flash custom patterns where you can set up durations and colors.

So does the WS1080. In Win500, I see a box in the color selection that says <mult> but I have no idea what it does. I don't see any option for multiple colors in ARC500 either.

When the LED says <mult> I believe it is because you have more than one LED (channel, TG, etc.) selected.

I made a conventional test object in Win500 just now and tried to select the <Mult> setting as well but it won't let me. It just assigns Color 7 (default white) when I try to select it. I also tried selecting blue first then selecting Mult to see if it would allow me to choose a second color but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I tried the same thing with the same results.

After trying what you mention above, read back the channel from the scanner and tell us what it states. It won't state <Mult> if you only have a single channel/TG selected.

I tried to email Don Starr directly since he was the one that developed the original firmware for these radios but he has one of those useless over aggressive email filters. Maybe someone else here will have better luck if they wanna try reaching him. I can't remember what his username was on here.

There are many posts on the forum about Don Starr, the author of WIN500, totally abandoning his products, emails, forum posts, and customer support of any kind many years ago.

RIP Oh well, at least it was still more a useful purchase than the SDS100. I'll switch to ARC500 now since it's on sale for $30 and provides the frequency pasting function I've desperately needed.

I do all of my editing in Excel files. The ARC software is the best for copying and pasting.
I too keep a master copy of my custom programming in Excel. I copy/etc. from there to Sentinel (SDS) or WINXXX software.

This can be done on the WS1098. Not certain of the other models. On the scanner display it can be done one freq or talkgroup at a time. In the Whistler PC software, under scanlist, conventional freqs or talkgroups under the truncked radio sys, look for the LED colors column. Set the LED mode to flash. Add the colors that you want. Up to four (4).

I just did that now too to keep a local database of my town that's a little better sorted, 1 for public safety and 1 for business kinda like how the old scanner club websites used to have.
