I am totally lost here. Never had a problem uploading Win96 to the older Pro scanners but I cannot get the scanner to accept the upload or get the program to recognize the scanner?? I have tried everything I can think of. Any advise or step by step instructions would be great.

The first issue is the cable. While the PRO-96 can use either the COM version or the USB version of the cable, the PRO-197/equivalent can only use the USB version (RS #20-047).

Make sure you have the correct drivers loaded for your O/S. And the cable is recognized by the device manager.

Make sure you have the correct COM port setting in WIN500 (although this may have been removed in later versions).

Make sure you have the latest version of WIN500.

What happens when you attempt to upload? Or download?

Thank you, I guess my first step is to find the correct cable, I have been using the same cables as I used for the Pro96. When I first attempted it was looking for a specific driver which I think I have resolved, then when trying to upload to scanner it is telling me that the scanner cannot be found so I suspect I should start with a new/correct cable.

I'm fairly certain I have the latest version of Win500 as I just downloaded it last week from starrsoft.

There seems to be 3 applications in the Win500, one is just labeled Win500, one is labeled Win500_com and the other is Win500client. Do these all work the same because the Win500 is still missing the correct driver (or just can't locate it). The Win500_com is the one that seems to want to work except it cannot find the scanner (now suspect as u suggested it is the cables I am using). They all look the same.

Again thank you, when I get the cable and try again I will let you know.
