How do I wire this speaker?

Does anyone have a schematic for this speaker? I haven't received it yet to give you the model number. I bought it in ebay for $16 shipped and I should have it soon. I'll be using it with my BC246T. Any input is greatly appreciated.

That looks like a Motorola amplified speaker and it will take some modifications to work with your scanner. You can start at http://www.n0ss.net/motorola_amp_spkr_mods_20040830.pdf for information and schematics on amplified speakers.

Should'nt be too bad,you will need to find the 13.8V power wire,ground wire,(+) speaker terminal wire,(-) speaker terminal wire,extension speaker plug to fit your scanner,-you're in business!

A quick glance inside should tell you everything you need to know.
I have used one of these for a mobile application for a scanner before.

Also,if the power cord is'nt fused,put an inline fuse/holder on it!
-I did'nt see a fuse holder in your pic.

Don't these speakers also need a "amp-on" signal on one of the leads? (Going back a few years here, forgive the fuzzy memory)

The green wire has to be pulled up (13.8v is fine) - it's usually controlled by a squelch signal.

Talk about a coincedence.

Moved some stuff on my workbench last night and what did I see?
One of these speakers sitting there!

I think it is part of a Saber convertacom system someone gave me years ago. :lol: :lol:

Umm, that's correct, Bill. I posted that link as the first response to the question.

N-Jay, I knew I had seen that speaker and wiring somewhere before. I had a Sabre convertacom and that's exactly what the speaker set up looked like. Just couldn't place it until I saw your post.
