All the hospitals in each region are able to talk to each other, and thr state EOC, in case of major incident/disaster.

There is a weekly check-in with the regional director's office.

At the V.A. hospital where I now work, we get an email alerting us to an impending test. It's conducted by Region 5 Medical Control (West Michigan Aircare Dispatch) on MPSCS, and usually takes place on MEDCOM5 or our home talkgroup (13VAMC).

I can't tell you how many times I've seen the consoles at several hospitals shut off, wrong channel, unplugged, turned down, or confused for another use....

I feel most hospital staff who would happen to be present at the time of an emergency, wouldn't know how or be able to us it.

That's why our MPSCS radio is in Dispatch....
