Hi. I am somewhat new at monitoring on my own time, and I have a BC895XLT Uniden Trunk Tracker Scanner. 1) Can I program ANY Software into this thing or no? 2) Can I record (for own use only of course) from the scanner onto my Computer's Hard Drive directly or even just listen via my Computer? 3) Can I program ONLY the I.D. s somehow into my Scanner ie. 80 or 48, for example? I have downloaded a zipped YORK POLICE FILE from this site, for example, and extracted its contents but it 's only for PRO scanners. Is there such a thing for BearCats? If so, does my BC895XLT permit entry of frequencies using software?? Any help for this Klutz would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to email me if you prefer at psdon1@hotmail.com Thanks a million!

P.S. This site ROCKS! Keep up the Great Work here!

You can use the free software from http://www.davee.com to record. It's simple. Run line in from the scanner to the computer, and record.

Scan Control does a pretty good job of supporting the 895. And yes, you can use it to upload frequencies, talkgroups and scan lists.

You can take a quick look at the software at:

Of course, before you really get yourself in a knot, it might be helpful to know where you are (Eastern Canada is a little wide....). With all the newer digital technology coming into play in the scanning world, the 895 might not cut it. It's a very good conventional and 225-400 Mhz milair scanner, however.
