The radio waves don't really move. They stay in same spot and the earth moves beneath the radio waves until the destination is directly underneath the signal.

They always have been. They refuse to travel where you want them to. Need NJ for the ARRL WAS? You'll only get Wisconsin and that's if you transmit from Long Island, NY.
