How is the RS2096 as a air band radio

i have a lot of air stuff non-military in my area
and i pick up one for a good price and i am think about using it for the air stuff
how sensitive is the radio in the air band

Do you mean the Radio Shack Pro 2096 ? If so then yes - it's a very good receiver for civil aeronautical traffic with excellent sensitivity in the VHF high bands. Unlike the PSR-600 (and its equivalents) it doesn't overload easily in this part of the spectrum.

Your mileage will vary of course with the type of antenna you use.

It's the big brother of my Pro96. I use it for O'hare Airport at times. Works well but FAR better the higher your antenna. A mere 2 stories up reveals a lot if you're near an airport. Sensitivity stats are at the manual library for Pro96-2096
