At least a few of my public safety radios are always on 24/7 at home, and I always have my dept issued radio on me when I go out.

I have multiple radios on in separate rooms (opposite ends of the house) 24/7/365. While working at home I often have to turn down a couple to take meetings. When mobile locally, I'll run one unit. When mobile out of town, I'll run 2 units. It gets wild when there's an incident because I can quickly tie up several radios with each locked on separate channels so I can hear it all.
