the PRO-164 triple trunking? I've got this one but I dont know if I really need all the features. Lately, I have been most interested in listening to HAM, mainly due to always hearing something different instead of the usual emergency calls. Whats your take on this scanner?

I own the 163. It is the base/mobile model of the 164. Used for listening to multiple conventional PD, FD, railroad, milair frequencies. Have a local EDACS system in it. LTR system. DNR, forestry comms, Corps of Eng.. Anything that I don't have, or, want to program into my digital scanners. Ham, I listen to on my ham radios.

Does any one no of a better rubber duck antenna to get for this scanner or is the factory one a good one?

Depends on what you're trying to hear. If you're mostly listening to trunked 800 MHz systems, then I can recommend the Radio Shack 800 MHz antenna. I will do a great job for you on the 800 systems, and also pretty decent for UHF stuff. It will receive VHF systems, but you will lose some effectiveness. If your primary focus is in the VHF and UHF ranges, then I can recommend the Diamond RH-77CA. It will do a great job for you in those ranges, plus it will effectively receive your local 800 MHz systems, but likely not work good in that range for systems that are more distant. If you want the Diamond you can't get it at Radio Shack, but I can recommend R&L Electronics in Cincinnati. Link here: http://www.randl.com/cgi-local/cart/cart.cgi?cart=Search&model=rh77ca&sb=1&so=ascend . You want the BNC model to mate up with your Pro-164. Anyway, hope that helps.

Maybe he is thinking in terms of an ambulance is dispatched because a guy fell off his ladder while trimming a tree and broke something, as compared to say the same guy fell of his ladder, landed on the pointy end of a branch and now has a piece of said tree jammed up his rectum! Just a thought.....

"usual" emergency calls? hmm...haven't heard that one before....kind of an oxymoron, dont ya think?
