Depending where you're located, it's not a real hotbed of activity. You may wish to try 123.025 MHz as well, for helicopters air-to-air... may be more there.

123.45 is an unofficial chat channel worldwide. You may hear a long chat if two company aircraft are on nearly parallel routes and the flight crew are getting bored and others may chime in, but the most I've ever heard after ten years of cruising around the South Pacific is someone saying "I see you" and the reply was "I see you too, bye..." ATC usually tell an oceanic flight that they may expect to see another aircraft on an opposing route but you're not likely to hear them on a VHF frequency.

Used to listen to Fedex pilots gripe about working with fedex. I guess grass is always greener elsewhere.
Best thing to do is get you a cheap scanner and a decent antenna and leave it on 123.450. You will hear stuff randomly.

When the Flying Tiger Line was sold in 1989 and merged with FedEx, the former Tiger pilots incurred a 50% pay reduction with their new company... that may of been the gripe.

Very good possibility. This would have been in the mid 90's.
