I live in northern New England and during the summer, I enjoy snagging VHF low band skip with my favorite targets being state police in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. In past years, the ISP is one of those entities that I've heard frequently. But this summer, how much low band activity really is there in Indiana?

In locations that have gone 800 MHz, are the barracks still using the 42 MHz low band freqs as well? Or have they been completely abandoned?

Thanks!

They still use low band quite a bit..In fact, all broadcasts are still done on low band in addition to 800 MHz..(At least in the southern part of the state)

Mostly used in the 800 MHz dead spots and alot of motor carrier traffic even though they have the 800 MHz radios..

I also hear alot of troppers say "go to low band" on 800 MHz..Go figure..

I have had ISP (district 25) programmed for a while now and I am unable to hear them on VH low. I figured it was just the Pro-92 cause I heard rumors it has problems picking up low band. If they are using 800 now, which ones are they using?

Redkey is not on SAFE-T as of yet. They do not have any sites completed in their district. They are still on Low Band..
