OK, every time I try to listen to a digital signal it comes in all garbeled. I tried adjusting the digital card and it seemed to work a little bit, but still had some garbeled audio.

Then today I went to listen to a digital signal again and all garbeled, and I forgot how to adjust the digital card, can anyone help me out, any suggestions on listening to a digital signal??

Thanks!

From the Strong Signals archives: BC296D/BCD796D "Auto Tune" feature

After you're in the Audio Quality mode and hit Priority, the radio says NOW AUDIO TUNING1.

While listening to a STRONG signal, the radio will automatically tune (you can watch the numbers in the upper right dip toward 0000) and then the radio has a double beep when it hits the optimum setting. You can either hit E to lock in the new setting or RSM to get out of the Audio Quality mode. While auto tuning, the radio says NOW AUDIO TUNING2 and NOW AUDIO TUNING3.

Works perfectly IF the signal is strong. Otherwise, it gets confused and doesn't lock into the best setting.

How do you get into the audio quality mode? I forgot how to do this.

The signal is very strong, I only listen when I am in the town that uses the freq.

I do have the current update.

I would just like to know how to get into the digital audio quality mode. I know you hold down two buttons, but I forgot which two. Does any one know?

Page 56 of the Owners Manual:

Setting APCO 25 Sound Quality
Each APCO 25 system has slightly different system settings
that control how the audio is digitized. To get the best sound
quality, you need to match as closely as possible the system’s
settings.
To adjust the sound quality:
1. While monitoring a specific APCO P-25 talkgroup, press
the HOLD/MAN key.
2. Press and hold the 9 key. On Line 1 of the screen you will
see SOUND QULTY: 0050 (for example). This shows
the Sound Quality. The lower the level the better the
Sound Quality.
3. To manually set the sound quality, rotate the scroll bar up
or down. As the threshold adjusts in increments of 100 at
the bottom of the screen watch the Sound Quality level
increase or decrease and continue to rotate the scroll bar
until you have achieved the best Sound Quality level.
Notes: • When APCO P-25 signal is not received, SOUND
QULTY: **** appears on the display.
• You must be receiving an APCO P-25 signal to
make this adjustment
4. Once you have adjusted the Sound Quality to the best
possible level, press E.
Press RSM to exit the Sound Quality Adjustment Mode.
Lower Mid Upper
Band Min Default Max Default Min Default Max
800MHz 33 533 1833 1985 2042 3342 3842
UHF 33 633 1833 1985 2042 3342 3842
VHF 330 930 2130 2147 2264 3464 4064
Notes: • To cancel the adjusted threshold level, press
key.
• The adjusted threshold level for the current
frequency can be set back to the default value by
pressing and holding the key.
• When you change the Sound Quality it affects all
other APCO 25 signals in that same band. (UHF,
VHF, or 800MHz).
