Hola meatbags
Thanks to some advice, research, and at least 1 glass of Blanton's bourbon (plus a healthy amount of ****ing around and finding out), I have a modestly easy to build recipe for a programming cable for the above noted radio:
Supplies needed:
-Your favorite USB 2.0 to RS232 adaptor
-A Startech strait through rs232 cable (part #MXt1002MBK)
-An old TP9100 Mic
-TP9100/TM9100 software
-About 45 minutes of time
How do:
--Install the TP/TM9100 software
--Plug the USB-RS232 adaptor into your computer and install drivers as prompted by windowz
--disassemble the TP9100 mic connector (need a t4 and p1 bit)
--Remove the connector from the mic cable (desolder the mic's wiring from the board and remove the mic cable from the connector)
--Cut the MALE end off of the star tech cable
--Run the end of the cable into the
--Strip ~2 inches of the black cable jacket off of the cable, and off of the GREEN, YELLOW, and RED wires inside said cable.
--Solder the GREEN wire from the startech cable to pin 5 (PL5, TX data)
--Solder the YELLOW wire from the startech cable to pin 3 (PL3, RX data)
--Solder the RED wire from the startech cable to pin 3 (PL1, Ground)
--Reassemble connector, dress/secure wire in connector's hole to your taste (I used come split loom tube, silicone, and zip ties to make it hippie proof)
--Attach to radio
--Power radio on
--Set COM port to be used in the Tait software
--Read your radio and start programming.
Cost:
--USB-RS232 cable = ~ $US 30
--Startech cable = $US 20
--Old mic = Depends on what you have/can find online.
THANK YOU to all those here that helped me on Austech, as well as to Christopher E Cox from the Australia Tait sales group on farcebork!!
