I wanted to know if it is possible to change the scanner frequencies through a PC alone without needing to touch the scanner itself? I ask because I plan on broadcasting my scanner over the internet and I want to be able to change frequencies through work online. I can remote desktop into my home pc where the scanner will be hooked up to control the software, or if there is an internet application to change frequencies that would be just as good. I was thinking of going with the Radio Shack Pro-95 scanner.. do you know if I can do the above with this scanner?

Thanks

First you need to make sure the scanner you buy can be PC controlled. The Pro 95 is PC programable but not PC controlled. Big Difference.

Unidens are PC controllable and PC Programable with the scanlite software or something along those lines.

Sorry not to be more of a help but I do know for a fact that the Pro95 is not PC controllable only programable.

There is the pro-2052 that can be pc controled, but I dont know how since I dont have one, and its a mobile. It picks up the civil airband and military airband. It runs for $150.

Why does it have to be handheld?

Most Computer cotrollable ones will be mobile as they need to be connected ot the pc all the time while being controled. Mobils wont fall off and break a cord or connetion nearly as easily as a handheld.

So ny reason it has to be a handheld?

yeah I want handheld so I can take it with me to the airport before my flights to pick up the local weather, etc on the field.. and since the reception quality is the same on the base units or the handhelds, I figure a handheld gives me more versatility
