how to connect remote head to 396t

i am having trouble connecting the remote head to my 396t handheld scanner. it comes up with ' scanner not connected' on the screen. any ideas ???????

Do you have power connected to both the scanner and the RH-96?

Are the cables connected securely?

Is the scanner turned on? (The RH-96 can not power on or off the radio..)

everything is connected by wiring@pwr,all working BUTit seens that the problem may be scanner is not seen the remote head????? THE PROBLEM MAY BE AN SCANNNER SETTING OR FIRMWARE PROBLEM as the remote head is not the same firmware as scanner??? need HELP BAD ON THIS ONE THANKS GUYS cheers mick

There is a firmware update for the 396T to make it work properly with the RH-96. If you haven't already done so, go to the Uniden site, register the scanning then download and install the update. I had problems with the cable that came with the head and Uniden sent a replacement out. No problems since then, but I'd still make sure that the update is installed before I did anything else.

Make sure you have the highest baud rate selected in PC CONTROL on the scanner. The thought here is that the scanner is set to "off".
