hi, is there a way to still listen to the radio broadcasts , because i entered the frequencies in the radio in the order listed from your database and i'm getting and able to listen to the p25 phase 2 radio frequencies but i guess i'm not able to trunk them yet as i haven't yet learned to set up the trunking channels for this radio, should i keep this radio, or send it back to walmart for a refund and buy a p25 phase 2 radio from walmart, or keep this radio,as i'm paying payments for a year.

The 1040 is not capable of decoding P25 Phase 2. Which system are you monitoring? It is possible that the system is Phase 2 capable, but the talkgroups are presently Phase 1. In the database, if you see a D in the Mode column, the talkgroup is phase 1. If you see a T (TDMA), the talkgroup is Phase 2. If the system is Phase 2 capable, the talkgroups could switch to Phase 2 in the future. What programming software are you using?

When your radio was first developed in 2007 tdma Phase ll systems were not being used. You haven't mentioned what systems you're trying to hear but if you are in the Philly area, Philadelphia police is Phase I simulcast and technically your radio is capable but you will have great problems with simulcast distortion in Philadelphia secondary to linear simulcast modulation. I would return the radio, it's ancient. I did love it and used it in the day when we had type ll smartzone systems but most stuff is tdma Phase ll now which as mentioned your radio is not capable in any way.
