How should I decide on sites? I don't completely understand this. Thanks in advance for your responses. I appreciate any help.

Well It Depends On What Tower/Site You Are Closest To. And Also Depends On What You Wanna Hear. Just Message Me Or Something And I Can Help You, Just Let Me Know What You Wanna Hear.

I live in New Prague (South Scott County). Here is what I have done:

1: Using WIN500 loaded Scott County LE and used Carver/Scott Sim.

Can I listen to anything on the ARMER system by just loading in the talkgroup and using that carver/scott tower?

I guess my main question is can I use that tower for ANY talkgroup? Do they matter? How do I know which tower to use for a talkgroup? I have read the FAQ and they don't really explain this too well.

Thanks again

Sometimes You Can Use The Same Sites For Different TalkGroups But With Your State Having Multi-Sites You Have To Program Each Site You Wanna Hear in Different Banks. Yes Complicated Yea I Know.

Talkgroups go active on a tower when a subscriber radio affiliates with that tower.
For instance if a State trooper From St Cloud affiliates with the Scott county towers while in that area, You will pick up those talkgroups as long as the radio is affiliated with Scott county towers, but as soon as the radio moves to City Center tower, no more St. Cloud Talkgroups. Not all talkgroups are allowed on all systems. If you go to MN Metroscan Homepage and select one of the talkgroup links you will see some mapping of what is allowed and what is denied for access on different talkgroups on different towers. Minneapolis Police and fire for instance are Home on System 109- Minneapolis, 1/2 of there talkgroups can uses System 101 - Metro, and 1/2 can use 201 Hennepin East- all three systems have coverage in Minneapolis.

Also depends on whether or not your County is Simulcast. For example down here Lyon County plans to have three tower sites on Simulcast, which means all talkgroups are heard on all towers. This is good for me because i'm close enough to the Russell tower site, i'm in neighboring Lincoln county, that i can hear all of the Lyon County traffic.

Lincoln County also plans to have two tower sites in Simulcast, making it easy to hear everything here as well when its done.

As far as I know there is no Simulcast sites planned for Lyon or Lincoln counties. From the participation plans that I have seen the counties are just adding a site or two, no mention of any simulcast.

Latest info on the website clearly shows Simulcast for Lyon County and they are even planning an additional site in Minneota now. Go back a page to the MN forum and look at the link to the latest participation info, has all the talkgroups listed, no TGID numbers yet of course. Says Simulcast right in that PDF file.

Also i know guys that work for the SO in both Lyon and Murray that attend these meetings, Lyon County will be Simulcast for the entire county.

Lincoln Counties last meeting it was discussed and the plan is since our county will only have two sites that they will make them Simulcast as well.

The participation plan does not say anything about Simulcast. They are talking Multicast. There is a difference between them. Here is a link that explains Simulcast and Multicast.

I know the difference between Multi and Simul quite well...

I'm just saying i was told at the last meeting they were told that the vote was to have Simulcast for the county. So if the latest participation doesn't reflect that it will eventually.
