security reasons. I know with icecast it's the burst size or buffer that changes it. The oddcast.exe RR provided me that is pre configured does not seem to allow those perameters

We have internal processes in place to delay a feed, but we only do so in certain extreme circumstances. If you have security considerations about a feed that you are broadcasting today, make sure you are following our feed provider terms of service for what you can broadcast.

If you still are uncomfortable with the broadcast, I'd recommend you not participate.

Why delay the feed? We/You are not broadcasting anything anyone else couldn't hear without a scanner they could easily pickup at Radio Shack.

I AM the one out there working, and when an armed robbery or somethig is in progress, I do not wish to compromise our people. Before joining RR I used icecast and set the lag to about 7 minutes. I don't think a five second delay is good enogh. It's not like I am expecting the bad guy to be carrying a computer around during his crime spree, but what if someone IS listening and lets him know by cell. I only provide primary dispatch feeds, but it's on primary that the sudden stuff comes out on the radio.

If your that worried, you should discontinue your feed, but that doesn't mean someone else in your area can't start one up. Your agency should move sensitive information to encypted channels if they are THAT worried about communications being overheard.

Think like a criminal, if your smart, you would have a scanner and be on top of all open police traffic in a major crime, like say a bank robbery.

I'm am not that worried if I was I would not provide feed. The info is not that "sensative" It's just our primary channel like any other city there are times when calls come out that are hotter than others. I did not think it was such a process to put a few minute delay on a feed.
