• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

How to determine region of my CPS 16.0-828 software?

I couldn't find an answer searching, so asking here. I have the CPS 16.0 build 828 software installed but it's been a while since I used it. I swear it is/was the North America (AA) version, but I just tried reading an XPR 5580 (AA) and got the region error, #1057 Region Not Supported

Is there a way to know which region of software I am running? I thought maybe under the 'Help- About CPS' tab might tell me, but it doesn't show region (Unless HAVN means something?) I am 100% sure that I had the (AA) version at one time because I was able to read the radio, but that was on a laptop (Win 7) that I no longer have. I installed the software again on my desktop (also Win 7) and now get that error. Would I be able to tell region by looking at the files on the installation CD? I don't see AA listed. Only AR, ES, FR, HE, PT, RU and ZH (I'm just assuming they are regions?)

I was trying to refresh my memory on this software as I just bought an XPR 5550e that I will need to program when it arrives

There's probably a better way, but look in the "\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\MOTOTRBO CPS\samples\" folder and see if the sample codeplugs are NA model names (CP. CM, XPR, etc.) or some other region (DP, XiR, etc.).

They consist of MTR, SLR, XiRM, XiRP and a few others. Files like Sample_SLR1000.ctb, Sample_XiRM8668.ctb, Sample_SL1K.ctb etc

OK, I found another cd with CPS 16-828 and this one is showing CM, CP, SLR and SPR in Sample folder, so I guess this is the North America version?
I guess I spoke to soon. Both CD's are identical, and show the CM, XPR, SL in the Samples folder on the CD, but when I install the software, the Sample folder files change to the ones mentioned above (Asian)
I may be selling the 5550e before I even get it! This is frustrating

I ended up getting it working and successfully read the radio. I found the correct CPS software on a thumb drive.
I did make an account on the Motorola Solutions website, but never got around to actually calling them to finish setting it up with file access.
