I have a pro96 which I haven't turned on in a while. I've forgotten the answer to this question so I'm a bit embarassed.

When scanning my local frequencies, I periodically scan onto a control channel which, of course, makes an awful racket. I know the channel periodically changes. So, how can I tell the 96 to skip over the control channel so I donm't have to listen to it?

Thanks

Just lock it out like a normal channel. If it is a active & your picking up the data sounds from it, manually goto that channel and press the 'MODE' button until it is in 'MO' mode then you won't hear the sounds.

Sounds like you programmed the radio incorrectly... All trunked channels should be in a trunked system.

And if the CC's were programmed as a trunked system, then you wouldn't hear the noise. (just to finish the thought :) )

Ok...can someone point me to a detailed explanation of proper programing. The documentation leaves much to be desired.

Bryant

Thanks for the help.

Sure Bryant:

We have a cheat sheet on the RR Wiki. BTW, there are loads of other information on the Wiki. Link at the top of the page for other info.

Radio Shack provides an excellent tutorial online. Just click the appropriate title of what you want to do, it will walk you through, step by step.

Have fun. :D

Based on later posts, it sound like LOCKOUT isn't what you want. You want the scanner to mute the trunked control channels and TRUNK them. Make sure the band AND channel is set to the correct type (MOT for Motorola, Etc) and it will not pass the audio for a control channel.
