Am always searching for a way to amplify handhelds at home. I have a 246 running through an old Realistic equalizer to cut the low voice freqs and then into a cheapo computer speaker setup (since they seem to always have a lot of bass). Had another cheapo speaker setup but no EQ. So I opened up the speakers and put a 10uf electrolytic capacitor on each speaker. Cuts the amplitude by about 25 or 30 percent, but there is still lots of volume on the 245XLT and it is 200 percent clearer with the low tones gone. Very easy beginner level soldering job to take one wire off the speaker and put a cap in-line. Depending on the power source, (both of the computer speakers that I have are 6V) you can even run them from a cig lighter power adapter and fasten them into your car for mobile use. For sure this topic has been yacked about tons before but I was just so pleased with the result of a project that I have been putting off doing, but it is so easy to do for the fab result.
