OK folks...

If i press 'scan' on my PRO-95 and it scans all my programmed frequencies and it stops on a frequency, how can i make it stay on that channel?

According to the manual you can press the 'PAUSE' button and it will stay on that frequency until you press 'Scan' again but it doesn't do anything.

This is driving me crazy. I have a Pro-2040 desktop unit that all you have to do is press 'MANUAL' and it will stay on that frequency. But the Pro-95 doesn't do that either.

Help? :?

If you're in search mode, and wish to pause on a frequency, hit pause. If you're in scan mode and wish to stop on a channel, hit manual.

I agree that's how it works however if the radio stops on a given frequency and i hear people talking, as soon as i hit 'Manual'..all i hear is 'white noise'.

Is that becuase the control channel it stopped on is trying to follow the conversation on one of the TrunkID's and its no longer transmitting where i paused it?

Still a little confused.

So what you really wanted to know is how to pause on a ID rather then a freq?

If your using Win95 to program it,.. you can set the trunking rescan delay time to a longer time,.... not sure what the max time is.... I know you can st it for at least 5 seconds (5000 ms).

Dubbin,

Yeah i guess that's what i'm getting at. Sorry, i should have said i was listening to a Motorola Type II Trunking System.

Milf,

I'll try setting the delay longer.

I guess the reason i never questioned hitting manual before on my PRO-2040 is because its just a basic 800 Mhz scanner that doesn't do trunking so when i was listening to an FM signal i could hit 'MANUAL' and it would stop on that frequency but i guess the same concept doesn't work when monitoring a CC and one or more TrunkID's.

To hold an active trunk ID press and hold the TRUNK button for 2 seconds. You will hear a beep and the words ID HOLD! on the display. To resume scanning all IDs again press the TRUNK button.

:D Excellent. You get the 'atta boy' award for today. Please tell me that isn't in the manual because i've read it from cover to cover a few times and don't recall reading about that.

Thanks.

[EDIT] Just found it on page 64 of the PDF manual. Thanks again.

page 64 of the manual. :)
I don't actually OWN a Pro-95 but last night a local Deputy stopped by at the end of his shift and asked me to program his buddy's Pro-95. It's very similar to the Pro-93 I take to the Fire station when I work so it didn't take long at all. Anytime one of the local Police officers, Deputies or Firefighters gets confused trying to program a scanner my phone rings. I don't mind because it gives me a chance to practice programing different scanners and trying different things. When Rat Shack put the Pro-94's on sale last month my phone started ringing. Two deputies had bought them but had no idea how to program them. I spent a couple hours playing with the scanners and by the time they got off shift I had them ready to go. As long as I have access to the Radio Shack website I can get the product manual and figure out whatever I need.

I was reading this thread and it made me think of a question that I had for my PRO-95.

Is there a way to set a trunk ID as a Priority ID?

I have been going through the manual trying to find out if this is a possibility and how to do it.

I am a big fire buff and have the FD's talkgroups programmed in along with the law enforcement groups. I know that I hear a lot more from the law enforcements' groups and so they might be in mid-conversation and I don't get to hear a dispatch for the FD or something. I wasn't sure if I could set a talkgroup ID as Priority like you can a channel or frequency.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

jwheatley,

I'm going through the PRO95 manual right now trying to make a 'cheat sheet' for all the FUNC options and different tips. If i run across how to set a TrunkID as a priority i'll post again.

:)
