Hi all,

I am trying to monitor the United States Air Force Academy here in Colorado Springs, CO. I have a RS PRO 2096. Here is what the RR Database reads for the system:

US Air Force Academy Trunking System, Monument, Colorado - Scanner Frequencies

On my PRO 2096 after reading the owner's manual a couple of times, I am able to plug in one or the other of the Custom Frequency Tables. I'm not having any luck trying to put both sets of tables into the scanner. Do I need both sets of tables enteren? Do I need software to accomplish this?

I currently have the Control Channels programmed and am receiving hits on the TG's and VC's but there is no audio. Encryption does not seem to be the issue as a fellow scanner enthusiast is able to hear the system in the clear. However, he is not familiar with the PRO 2096, hence my question on this forum. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Perhaps you could try programming all of the frequencies instead of just the CC. I had similar issues with a local system here in PA. I needed to add a custom table and have all freqs included.

From the Wiki, it has to be done with software.

Software Support for Rebanding

Note that in most cases, if you have a premium subscription, software that supports downloading data from the database will set the correct system type and custom tables automatically, as long as the rebanding flag has been set. This flag results in a warning message about the system being rebanded in the form.

The following wiki articles contain specific information on how to apply changes for rebanding support;

Rebanding the Radio Shack Pro-96 or Pro-2096 requires the use of software. See the articles listed below.

Rebanding has nothing to do with this system. It's UHF, and rebanding ONLY affects 800 Mhz

The first thing I would check is whether you have the offsets set up correctly. Those are required on a mixed mode system, which this is

They are listed in the custom table section of the database.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply.

If you click on the RR link in my original post, you will see that this system has two sets of Base, Spacing and Offset. My question is do I need to progam both of them in? I seem to only be able to do one or the other manually in the PRO 2096. That's why I was asking if I needed software to do this.

Thanks,

Tim

Yes you need both offsets. Not being able to do both manually is a real bummer, so it does appear that you would need ARC96 or Win96 to do the job....I'm not a RS owner, unfortunatel Mike

Software is needed to program any multi table system for the PRO-96/2096. Rebanding is a different problem, but it is solved the very same way with multi table entries. If the database is correct then the first 3 frequencies are generated by the first table and the other 5 are generated by the 2nd table. Only entering one table will put you off frequency for the other frequencies. You will hear incomplete conversations.

Yes, you need the software.

Thanks Mike. Thanks dtse. It's not the answer I wanted to hear but it's kind of what I thought. I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks again and happy scanning.
