I am working on the ARC500 file. Which programming cable do you have for the scanner? Did you install the driver? If you have the Whistler cable, save the attached driver installer file to your computer and extract. Run the extracted Setup.exe file to install the driver.

Please see my previous post about installing the cable driver. Here is your ARC500 file. It is set up to select sites by scan list. Your local site is ICAWIN Blackfoot in scan list 1. You are able to toggle sites on and off by pressing their scan list numbers (1 thru 4) on the scanner keypad. Turning off all 4 sites will turn off the ICAWIN trunked system. A trunked system must have at least one site enabled to function. Conventional frequencies are in scan list 5. All 5 scan lists will be enabled when you first upload the file to the scanner. You will want to adjust the squelch using scan list 5 with the conventional frequencies. While scanning the frequencies, turn the squelch knob counterclockwise until you hear noise. Slowly turn the knob clockwise until the noise just disappears. That will be your optimal setting. I added the Pocatello site in Bannock county to give you good coverage of the Fort Hall tribal police. You also have all of the Bannock County talkgroups. Some abbreviations: BC & Bing=Bingham County. Ban=Bannock County. Chub=Chubbuck. Poc=Pocatello. Ink/McC/Arim=Inkom/McCammon/Arimo. SO=Sheriff's Office. ISP=Idaho State Police. I also included all of the statewide interop talkgroups for any major events in your area. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with ARC500. If your programming cable has a mono adapter on the end, remove it. The scanner requires a stereo plug. Connect the programming cable between your computer and the PC/IF jack of your scanner and turn the scanner on. Go to the Scanner tab in ARC500 and click on Upload to Scanner. Please let me know if you have any questions. Scan lists as follows:

SCAN LISTS:
1. ICAWIN Blackfoot
2. ICAWIN ShelleyBt
3. ICAWIN EastButte
4. ICAWIN Pocatello
5. Bingham Co Conv

I'm not sure how to turn scan list 5 off?
Press 5 on the scanner keypad while scanning. Pressing the scan list number on the keypad will toggle the scan list on and off. For scan lists 11 thru 20, press FUNC and then the scan list number (Single digit 1 thru 0). Example: Scan list 11 = FUNC and then 1. 0 = scan list 10. FUNC and then 0 = scan list 20.

Whistler 1040 model.... do these require updated downloads on occasion?
Yes, as there are changes in conventional frequencies and trunked systems in your area. You can use ARC500 or PSREdit500 software to program it. I use Butel ARC500 Basic to program my Radio Shack PRO-106, the older brother of your scanner. Both use the same software. You can program the scanner manually, but it takes a lot of time. Looking at the database, the Clay County Sheriff and West Point PD are DMR. The MSWIN statewide trunked system, which is used by Clay County, is P25 Phase 2. The WS1040 cannot receive DMR and is capable of P25 Phase 1 only. It is the wrong scanner for your location.

Thank you!! It worked for about a year, went spotty, and then went silent. I’ll have to start looking for a new scanner.

Perhaps you could tell us what questions you are being asked..... we can't see what you're looking at.

The Win500 software does not load into your WS1065, it loads into your PC computer. Do you have the scanner connected to your computer with the proper cable?

Are you asking about what you're seeing on your scanner screen, or are you asking about what you're seeing on your computer screen?

For any kind of meaningful help, you will need to be much more accurate and detailed with your questions.

well so much for finding help here
If your trying to enter the following don't bother because the T means it is P25 phase 2.The ws1065 only does P25 phase 1.The TE talk groups are fully encrypted.

Yellowstone County
