I have been trying to use raido ref. i can not figure it out .HELP

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).
This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I can not get it to take channel from radio ref.
@longfeather1 we need to know what is happening when you do this.
That said, you have to connect your radio via cable to the computer and download the image from your radio (RADIO tab download) to Chirp. Go back to the RADIO tab and select IMPORT then select Radio Reference. When you want to import from Radio Reference into Chirp it is done by zip code, enter the zip code with your RR user name and password. It will then send the request to RR and open a separate tab with the available frequencies. If your radio is unable to use any of those freqs, IE aircraft AM on a BF888 or P25 on any Baofeng, it will appear grayed out and you can not enter it. You then copy and paste from the RR opened tab to the tab for your radio.
So what part of this process are you having problems with?

How can it be confusing, tell me your problem and we will get it working if it is possible. The first step is, what are you trying to put into the radio, and what kind of radio do you have?

This is when you try to log in (through Chirp) to RR database? Check the user name and password or tell us when you are getting the error.

Is there someone nearby that can help you program the radio? Trying to explain over RR how to do what you want is a bit frustrating for you and those trying to help.

You're not telling us anything about WHEN in the process this is happening, nor the precise model number. It's unlikely you will find help here if this is a software bug. The developers for CHIRP aren't here. You're more likely to find them on the CHIRP email reflector, the URL for which you will find in message 10 of this thread.
RT systems supports a number of Baofeng radios - and may be a better bet since they have a dedicated customer service line, their own knowledge base from which to look up issues. Here's what they have for the various Baofeng models...be sure to select which kind of radio this - a handheld or mobile
