How to register my new scanner

I just purchased a uniden 996T scanner and my cleaning people through out the box yikes. How can I register my scanner so I can download the software to run this digital scanner

The serial number should be on the scanner, you can do it online.

While it's good to register the scanner with Uniden so you can get the UASD (and the firmware fixes), there are a couple of freeware packages (BcTool and FreeScan) as well as several commercial packages that will run the 996. You can find links in the wiki (anything in blue and/or underlined is a link)

Some software (namely ARC996, BcTool, FreeScan, ProScan) can connect up to the database and download data into the software. This is something the UASD cannot do. Something to consider.

I believe you have to register it to Dl the CPU updates??.... I could be wrong??

The SN actual ESN on the 996 can be found by MENU > Settings > See Scanner Info > Firmware Verson
