Bumping an old thread if you guys don't mind. What is the difference between these .IQ and .FM files? FM I assume is Frequency Modulation and what is "IQ"? Can these be played back like an .mp3 or .wav on a media player? Or are these some other kind of file. I guess I'm unclear what is different about these than the .wav or .mp3 radio source audio recordings.
They aren't decoded audio. They are raw spectrum. And you can only play them back with FMP*, not with DSDPlus. You should be ale to play back an IQ file in SDRSharp or something. That's all I can tell ya.

Is it better to send the DSD+ team .wav, .mp3, or .FM / .IQ files for troubleshooting or reporting something?

I guess it depends. If you really think the issue is with FMP*, then you would want to send a .FM / .IQ file. Beware they can be very large. But typically, the issue you want to report will have to do with DSDPlus. And for that:

In the Event Window of DSDPlus:

Input --> Start source audio recording
- record enough to likely capture whatever oddity is occuring
Input --> Stop Source Audio recording

You will then see, in your DSDPlus folder a DSDPlus-Raw-Input*.wav file

That is what you would send to the author
