• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Does anyone know who the proper authorities are to contact regarding someone who has an illegal dish setup?...

And YES,.. I am being a little snitch,... You would too if those same neighbors enjoyed smashing your car windows and stealing things from your car,... Not to mention they deal drugs out of the same building I've lived in for 12 years..

I'm going to bury these low lives and this is just step one,....

:) ,.... So,.. can anyone point me in the right direction?..

How do you know they're getting free sat tv? Are they bragging?

Whatever the reason is, I'd say just contact whatever sat. co. you think their stealing from.

It's a pirate dish,... It's a setup that allows you to receive free satellite tv reception..
There's a lot of satellite TV that is in the clear... You'll need to be much more specific.

Google a "free to air" FTA satellite TV.

I actually was pulling up into the parking lot the day they were drilling it up on the side of the building.. The genius offered me a setup and told me exactly what it entailed.. It's illegal, no doubt,...

I have no idea which service it's pirating from. Is there not an FCC channel I can exercise?

Why not report the drug dealing? It would certainly be more effective in "burying" them than stealing satellite signals.

Are they stealing it from something like Dish or DirectTV or are they just getting actual free (and legal) satellite TV?

Request an Enforcement Action from your local FCC office. A google search should turn one up in the Chicago area.

I guarantee you they are not stealing "Dish Network" And they better be pretty good on a computer keeping up with the latest codes every day to pirate "Direct TV".

Dish Network can be hacked. I know someone who is doing it---he gets EVERYTHING, even porn, free.
He had to hack Dish Network to get free porn? Wierd...I'd have just used Google. ;)

Apparently there's a new way of satellite piracy that does not involve code cards.. The guy was telling me that there would never be any code cards involved and that it would get you everything..

It's a small dish to the person who asked,...

And reporting the drug dealing is harder than you might think.. But given the opportunity I would absolutely report them for it...

I once knew someone who did it with a cable box, not a dish. He told me you can get in huge trouble for it; if you are trying to get some good fines on these people this would be the way to do it :)

I remember  when Dish had the "HU" card and a black Sunday football player on it. You joined a "club" on the internet and got a bunch of "bin" numbers, flash your card,etc..... I thought when Dish changed their system that was the end of hacking them.

My dad is a Dish dealer, and we had a small amount of trouble here in Wyoming for that. Indeed, when the Smart Cards were changed, most of it was ended. But hey, build a better mousetrap...
