How to run DSD+ on a tapped scanner AND a RTL-SDR?

First I used DSD+ with a tapped scanner by simply running DSDPlus.exe without any batch files. Then I got a RTL-SDR dongle and am loving the benefits!

I've tried various batch configurations to run two instances of DSD+, one with the dongle and one with the scanner, but I haven't gotten it working. Has anyone succeeded with this that could send me sample batch files to try?

Run 1R and FMP24 .bat files. Don't need the scanner. You can create a .bat file to start both 1R and FMP24 at the same time. I never have.

Thanks sonm10. It works fine with just the dongle, but I want to scan two systems/sites at the same time with my two receivers. DSD+ allows that, but I can't find the right configuration for one tapped scanner and one RTL-SDR. I'm trying to make the most of a one-day scanning trip!

Only one of your recievers will be steerable, the scanner will not...which will limit the functionality of that particular instance. The dongle will be able to jump to the frequencies and follow traffic, the scanner will sit there and continue to listen to the CC.

running DSD plus and selecting the commensurate audio input device other than a FMP linking instance will instruct that instance to listen/decode the audio input from the scanner. It will entirely depend on your local setup as to which audio input your scanner enumerates as. It will probably be a single digit number.

Duplicate the dsd folder, one dedicated to each instance
Agree with this. Duplicate the folder and dedicate one folder to the sdr, one to the scanner. If you run fastlane it is very simple to configure the input settings to the different sources and largely negate the need for bat file settings.

I duplicated the folder and got it running both devices. Thanks for the suggestion! For some reason I have to start DSD+ with the scanner first, then start the second instance with the dongle. If I do it the other way around both instances lock onto the dongle for some reason.

I'm not clear what you're suggesting here. I'm still a little confused about DSD+ vs. Fastlane vs. AirSpy. (I'm registered for unlimited Fastlane updates.) How do I control to input settings without bat files?

OP wants to run two unrelated DSD+ instances to monitor two different signals. I see he's gone the duplicated DSD+ folder route, but it's not required.

With DSD+ FL, run the stock FMP24-CC.bat and 1R.bat files to use the dongle. The dongle can trunk track a system.

Run the 1Ra.bat file, change mode to Passive Digital Monitor, change input to Mic / Line In to use the scanner. The scanner can sit on a control channel (no voice decoding) or it can scan a bunch of digital voice channels.

Benefit of using only one folder is all group and radio data stays in one set of files.

I tried a combined batch file, but for some reason it doesn't work, no matter the order of the two lines (see below). Something seems to go wrong with starting the two programs at the same time. Has anyone found a way to make this work? I also wonder if a single batch file could open two instances of DSD+ on different receivers, but I haven't tried that.

DSDPlus -r1 -T -E -Pwav -i20001 >>1R-log.txt
FMP24 -rc -i1 -o20001 -P0.0 -e1 -f155.640

Simplest approach is to take the existing batch files (or custom ones) and run them from a single batch file:

All.bat:

START FMP24-CC.bat
START 1R.bat
...

Thanks slicerwizard. That approach slows down the startup, or whatever it takes, to make each step work properly. I even added a third line that opens a second instance of DSD+ to run off my scanner tap! I also got both instances running from a single DSDPlus folder as you suggested above.

Start FMP24-CC.bat
Start 1R.bat
DSDPlus

Sometimes copy the batch file and set it up different and then run both batch files, or use one batch for tapped and the other for dongle

A batch file containing the above three lines (in red) starts both sessions of DSD+ in a single step.
