New SDS100 owner here. Trying to set a favorite for Greenville County SC's freqs in the Palmetto 800 system. When I go to the master database, select SC, select Greenville County, the Palmetto 800 system is there but it includes all the SC counties, not just Greenville. Sentinel won't let me put only Greenville County Palmetto 800 as a favorite, it grabs all SC counties.

Is my only option to accept all the counties in Palmetto 800, then tediously go to all the counties except Greenville and set "avoid"? Talk about a lot of clicking... if this is the way, is it possible to edit it in a spreadsheet or something and avoid a zillion clicks?

I'm trying to like the SDS100 but they sure make it hard.

When your looking at the system in Sentinel, right click on just the county you want, and choose append to fav list. It will only import that county but it will also import every site on the system.

As far as all the sites, will you ever be bringing the scanner to other parts of the state? if not, you could eliminate many of them that do not carry traffic for your county of interest. But then if you do travel to another part of the state, you will not have them. I am not familiar with that system so hopefully someone who is will chime in with some advice based on your scanning preferences.

To get rid of the sites you do not want, edit fav list, go in under sites, hold control, and click each site you have no interest in and after they are all highlighted, choose delete...

Thank you Dave. I think I figured out my problem. The "other counties" that come along for the ride when appending Greenville County/Palmetto 800 to the favorites list are apparently the simulcast freqs for Greenville County trunked traffic to those counties, not the actual P25 Phase II talkgroups & such for those counties. Confusing!

I just press function and then the dept soft key and quickly turn the knob until my county is on the display and it will be on Site Hold.
When I have my county on Site Hold, I do get a bit of traffic from neighboring county simulcast sites but if I don't want to hear them I press avoid when they pop up.
To make it easier, I bought another SD card and put the system l monitor on it with Sentinel and when doing so, I put every site I don't want to scan on permanent avoid and I only listen to what's going on in my county. I don't take the scanner with me when I travel, so what I've explained works well for me.
