How to set up an igate for APRS? What do I need to buy?

Hello, I'd love to get an igate set up.

What do I need to get? What software? Can I use an HT? (I have a couple uv5rs and I can spare one of them for continued use for an Igate if that's possible) Do I need a mobile radio? (I have a spare one, btech 50x2) Do I need high power? I have a pretty good Windows 10 computer (custom built for gaming) I already have an external base antenna. I also have high-speed internet.

If I can use any of the current radios I have, what cables do i need to hook it up to my computer?

I was told by someone, that I shouldn't set up an igate due to the amount that's in my area... What do you think? I'm in Gilbert, Az.

Hello yes Phoenix has enough I-Gates. I run the Chandler VHF and UHF I-Gate and there is to many.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I was just thinking since I use APRS, id try and help out with it.

But I guess not, as it would make it worse.
