I am learning to program my new 996xt. I'm working on putting Howard County PD and FD on it. I have loaded it on my scanner. I have noticed that on my display it will say simulcast. why is this? can I change this?

That's just the label on the system/site:

Howard County Trunking System, Ellicott City, Maryland - Scanner Frequencies

On systems with more than one site (like Maryland FiRST, Prince George or Baltimore County) you'd see the name/location of the site instead.

Using FREESCAN, I don't think there is any downside to changing the string "Simulcast" to comething else if you wanted to (for example "Countywide").. It's just a label

With FreeScan you can change your alpha tags to anything you want. I capitalize everything on mine to make it easier to read.

I also add the quick key numbers to the name so I know which QKs are assigned to which system/site, plus I can use the "Program Systems" list as a QK list. I have over 80 systems in my scanners.
