I was curious to know if anyone was actually using the included base stand for their HP-1? I've only used mine a couple of times.

On the other hand, I plan to be using the Uniden mounting bracket quite a bit. And on this forum and over at HomePatrol, there seem to be a lot of folks who are also very interest in the mounting bracket. Or they are frustrated that they can't get the bracket.

So question for folks and for Uniden... Should they include the mobile mounting brackets? Or offer the option to order the HP-1 with the mobile bracket instead of the base stand?

I use the included base stand everyday? Where else you gonna set the thing? It sits just fine on the desk, with no movement! I was actually of adding a big of velcro to the HP-1 and the stand and also using it mobile...probably either on the hump, or on the center console.

I not only use the stand, I bought a second, substitute one for my office. I find the stands angle the screen for most effective viewing. I say "substitute" because I got a $4 business card holder, the kind of thing sold in stationery stores, to hold it at the office — probably a lot cheaper than what Uniden would charge (though I have not seen it offered). The $4 stand isn't as good as Uniden's, but for the price, it's worth it. (I need the scanner at home and at the office because I'm a newspaper editor.) Incidentally, I wish the Uniden stand and the back of the HP1 were so designed that the stand could be fastened to the back of the receiver with a bolt-type arrangement. Make it one-piece...

I ordered my mobile bracket from Uniden direct 2 weeks ago and it arrived in 1 week.

The site said pre-order, but it shipped soon. SO I think they just havent updated there web site

And yes, in he house, I use the stand.
Beats laying it flat!

I would think a small strip or two of velcro would keep the stand attached to the HP-1.

I find the HP-1 stand doesn't have enough forward tilt for me. I normally support the rear end with a deck of cards so it faces me more.

I use the base stand. It holds the radio at an angle that makes it easy to view and use. I have thought about ordering the mobile-mount bracket but I have a BCT-15 already mounted in my truck and, at least for now, I don't really feel like changing radios.

I use it, why, are there other alternatives ?
If you only used it a couple of times, I presume you are not happy with the design ?
Whats wrong with it, and what do you do, just let it sit on its back ?
Its a simple piece of plastic, but if theres a design deficiency, I don't see it.

My HP-1 sits on its base stand, which sits atop my RigBlaster Pro II, which in turn sits on top of my AirNav RadarBox.

I use it. My issue is the with the Sentinel Software. You can not leave the HP1 plugged into the PC, so every time I connect or disconnect, the HP1 comes off the stand.

If you gently push down on the front top portion of the HP-1 with your left hand fingers, while plugging in (and unplugging) the connector, the HP-1 won't slide off the stand.

P.S. why can't you leave the HP-1 connected to the PC? Or rather, why would you want to leave it connected? If you do want to leave it connected, just get yourself a USB extension cable and then you can leave it connected. (It will connect between your PC and the Uniden cable.)

The HP-1 cannot be operated while connected to a PC. It acts like a removable storage device and the screen is white.

I use the base stand in the office. I wish there was a treble stand too, as some dispatchers have very deep voices.

-sorry- but someone was going to say it eventually!

But, no one is asking how loud they have to speak to get the volume discount...
