Seems I saw a thread recently about an issue similar to this, but couldn't find it, so...
I installed a Diamond discone in the attic a couple weeks ago and the HP-1 has been receiving quite nicely, from across town in fact, which is a good 30 miles. Until recently, that is. I noticed this by comparing it with the new scanner Santa delivered. What I've discovered by the few things I've tried is that when any Service, Department, or Channel is put on Hold the unit receives just fine. It's in lock-step with the new scanner. But when Hold is disabled, reception is terrible, only detecting the stronger signals, occasionally, or picking up right at the end of a transmission. Rarely does it receive anything from across town now.
I found this, but not sure it applies as I don't believe I'm that close to any transmitters. How close is too close?

Here's what I know and have done so far:
- Experienced the recent HPDB update glitch and removed/reinstalled Sentinel/HPDB
- Recently connected discone but reverted back to stock and no difference
- Ran scandisk/checkdisk/defragged SD card and no problems found
- Cleared user data and recreated/installed new Fave (as a test) identical to scanner #2
- When Service, Department, and Channel are set to Hold, reception is normal
- When Service, Department, and Channel are not set to Hold, reception is abby normal
- Above two are true whether using Full DB or the single Fave currently installed
- Scanner #2 is using an outdoors RS scanner antenna but reception on the HP-1 appears to be the same using the stock antenna
- All Service Types are enabled
- Location Control not used
I have a couple things left to try but thought it would be good to have more eyes on it.
Thanks
