With all of the newer scanners (HP1/2, x36HPs, WS-1080, and future WS-1095) now using microSD cards, I think there are going to be some of these issues where a lot of the basic scanner operation is happening on the SD card. That is probably going to affect scanning speed, decoding, and lots of other basic functions of the scanners.

I see you own an HP-2. Do you monitor P25 TDMA Phase II at all? If so how does the HP-2 compare with the x36HP on TDMA? I love my 436 and 536 on conventional analog/p25 and P25 Phase I trunked but Phase II is poor although I haven't heard anything yet with the new SD card.

Also, the new card solved the key lag issue but the radio still misses short transmissions on 800MHz talkgroups. Dispatcher was talking for 10-15 seconds then I guess the unit replied but all I heard was a mic click.

We have a couple of P25 Phase II systems in development down here in Los Angeles, but they are mainly in the testing phase with no regular traffic. So I have not done any comparisons with the HP2 vs x36HPs. The HP2 seems to do well on P25 phase I here in LA/Orange County, but still think the x36HPs handle the weaker P25 decode better. This is obviously a radio-dense area, and I think the NFM filter makes some difference. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Quick question on the 16GB or 32GB SD card for the BCD 536. Do I have to format the card before installing in BCD536? If yes, what is the link to format the card?
Thanks

I was able to copy almost constant TDMA audio that the techs have looping over and over and where I could get good audio while driving around my local site of the Oregon State Radio Project and I noticed that the clipping off of the first word or two of each transmisison went away about 95% of the time but there was a delay in using the keys. Not all that bad, I just had to give the keys a longer press than normal. This is an improvement over not being able to use the keys at all while the radio is decoding TDMA audio. Also, I've noticed that on my 436 and 536 the TDMA audio has pops like analog from time to time. Must be a TDMA thing.
