Have an issue with my HP1.At 74 years old, don't have the tech savvy to figure it out.
Live in Harford county maryland. Until about 3 weeks ago, all was fine. Then scanner quit receiving all 700 & 800 frequencies. Have updated the database, and have the latest firmware (per sentinal). Have been told that county has switched it's control channel. What's my fix if any???

What system are you trying to monitor? According to the database, the FIRST system is Phase II and your HP1 won't receive Phase II, only Phase I.

You will still be able to receive Talkgroups using Phase I on the system. Try entering in your ZIP code again and check your range settings.

HP1 and Sentinel

Question regarding HP1 and Sentry. Up until about 3 weeks ago, have had no issues. Now, cannot pick up any 700 & 800 MHZ. Have been told that (Harford County Maryland) has switched their control frequency.
According to scanner info and Sentinal, I have the latest Firmware and Databases. At 74 years old i'm not real tech savvy, can anyone help or suggest ???

No Harford County talkgroups on FIRST as of yet. So I am guessing he is monitoring CMARC which at least according to the database is still a phase 1 system.

In Sentinel, make sure you have all of the blue and red frequencies. If not, you can add them yourself. Maybe add all of the frequencies just to be sure.

One thing I have seen is that often users will update the database on the computer but not write it to the scanner.

Go to Menu>Advanced Men>(down arrow)>Version Information and make sure the database date there is the most recent Sunday or Monday. If not then within Sentinel be sure to select the "Write to HomePatrol" item in the HomePatrol menu. Click the Force Write Full Database button then OK.

Also, are you listening to a Favorites List or the full database? If it is a Favorites List make sure you understand that these are NOT updated when you update the database, even if they were originally sourced there.

Monitoring CMARC. Sentinal says I have the latest database, and latest firmware. Have deleted all prior favorites, added new favorites list, downloaded to HP1. Scanner will receive fire dispatch (460.00), but will NOT receive any talkgroups, sheriffs dept. etc. As I stated earlier, have been told county has switched CONTROL frequency, but have no idea what to do!!!!! Have also tried zip code and range. NO LUCK.

Please don't pose the same question in two different forums. That is known as cross-posting which is not permitted in the RadioReference forums.

Your two threads have been merged into this one.

Update

Have no idea what I did, but deleted sentinal, restored HP to factory, reinstalled Sentinal, and created new favorites. All appears to be OK. Now getting the 700 & 800 frequencies. Thanks all for your suggestions.

More than likely, when you deleted Sentinel, then reinstalled & created a new Favorites list, the new list reflected the change to the control channel for your system of interest. Even though you had previously updated the Sentinel master database, and wrote that to the scanner, that does not do any update to a Favorites list. So, unless you were using the full database, and location control, the scanner would still have been using the old, probably incorrect (or incomplete) list of control channels that were in your existing list.

I have learned the hard way not to allow my changes in my “Favorites lists” in Sentinel to overwrite an old copy of my “Favorites Lists” in the scanner. I always check the box to “erase FL in scanner before writing a new FL to the scanner.

Otherwise I frequently have things stop working or things work but not correctly.
