HP-1: HP1 USB Mass Storage Mystery

Attempting to update master data base and favorites on both of my Home Patrol 1 Radios.
Using the USB port to program them as many times before (Units are 10+ years old) but now will not see the SD card in either unit.
No error messages and units work fine just cannot access the cards through the USB port as before.
I pulled the SD cards and programmed them with new data with Sentinel direct from my PC...
Worked fine that way but a bit inconvenient and a mystery as to why they no longer program with USB Mass Storage option.
To add to this story I programmed my HP2 with the same PC, same cable and same software with USB and no problem.
Anyone have this issue?

Only thing that seems to make sense is that, for whatever reason, the USB port on your HP-1 is defective. Either, somehow, it has become damaged, or perhaps the contacts are dirty. The issue should not be your cable, since you can program your HP-2 with it.

That was my original suspicion until it didn't work for either of two HP1s.

Since the only possible variable that you haven't accounted for is the PC itself... Did you change anything on your PC?

Have you tried another PC to see if it recognizes either HP1?

Same PC works OK with HP2 and SDS 100...might try a different PC
