HP2 - Discovery Mode question

I have an HP2 with the Extreme upgrade. What I'm trying to do is listen to my scanner while it's in Discovery Mode, that way I can hear any new talk groups that may not be in the database. But as far as I can tell the HP2 will only log the talk groups into a list, and you can't listen to the trunked system while it's logging. Does anyone know if this is possible? When I had a Radio Shack scanner this was called "Open Mode" and you could hear every talk group within a trunked system even if you did not have it programmed.

Monitor the system normally with ID search on.

Correct. The above is the comparable mode in Uniden.

How is the ID search turned on?

I have the extreame upgrade for the HP 2.

It's one of the system settings. You don't need the extreme upgrade to access it.

You must be in a favorites list, and select a system. ID Search on is one option.

Do it from Sentinel.
