Does anyone know the meaning of the various Henderson police callsigns?
I know:
William = West units
Nora = North units
What are:
'X'ray units, 'S'am units, 'P'aul units

Thanks,
Bill

I doubt the William units are West units. I live on the eastern side of the city and William units are here several times a night. I can tell you the the first number in the callsign is the shift 1=morning, 2=afternoon, 3=night. After the designator, the last number is the specific unit number. Just from listening, sounds as if the higher the number, the farther east their primary patrol area.

From what I've been able to tell, William units are "watch" units, Nora units are "traffic" and X-ray's are the semi-unmarked units. Occasionally you'll hear a "Sam" unit, those are usually either investigative or admin vehicles.

Hope this answered something for you.

Just a couple hours of plotting dispatched calls, and it seems to confirm the letter designation corresponds to the patrol area. N=North, E=East, and W=West patrol, areas can be viewed on the City of Henderson web page.

I'm still curious to the 'L', 'P', 'S', and 'X' units.

T or Tom units are part of the Traffic division.

William units are usually assigned to the West area patrol duties.
Edward units are usually assigned to the East area patrol duties.
Nora units are usually assigned to the North area patrol duties.
It is not unusual for William units to be assigned calls in the East area as there is normally a greater need for police services in that area.
Tom units are traffic units, usually motor units.
Sam units are sgts.
Lincoln units are Lts.
Paul units are animal control units
Robert units are roving units
Union units are SWAT units
King units are detectives
X-ray units I do not remember

Makes sense to me. I just went with what I've heard and seen in the neighborhood. Sorry if I misdirected anyone.

Cheers!
