We're all familiar with HPWREN, the UCSD site which has installed HD cameras on many of our local mountain tops, from which wildfire are monitored. This update also includes a 24 minute video on new and exciting discoveries into managing and monitoring wildfires.

If you go to the HPWREN website: Water Quality Sensor and Camera Instrumentation at the Tijuana Estuary you'll notice the tabs at the top of the page. Click on the "PROJECTS" tab; then click on the "WIFIRE" tab. Half way down that page, you'll see a link: VOA/TEK News video feature on WIFIRE. which will bring you the VIMEO video for about 24 minutes in duration. I hope you feel it's worth your time.

At 4:27 in the video, the LAFD Chief speaks briefly on a Plexiglas triangular tool that he has invented: "Brush-Fire Rate of Spread Tool". Catchy name, no?

The HPWREN site has a host of info, some of which are wildfire related.

Enjoy the show!
