greetings! i am a newby here and after some searching i had a question...

I just purchased an HT1000 w/the DTMF keypad on the front. the guy really needed the cash and it was all he had for sale that i could use. (house fire) anyway (trying to help him and his family out)...its programmed from a different area and i was wondering what would be involved in programming it to my local freq's?

hard/easy/software required???

You're easiest and best bet would be to contact your local radioshop as the required legal software I'm told is quite expensive and contains a number of restrictions.

I would also recommend you can read up on Motorola gear at http://www.batlabs.com as it's spoken very highly of here.

Good Luck!

To program it you'll need the HT1000 RSS, a RIB, and a PC old enough to run the software properly. But as was said, your better off bringing it to a local Motorola radioshop.

HT1000 RSS is NOT hard to find if you look in the right places. ;) * Google is your friend *

Go to a hamfest or find a buddy who knows alot about Motorola stuff and I'm sure it can be taken care of.

I really wouldn't go and "pirate" the RSS...you get caught doing that and/or talking to the wrong people..bad things could happen. You need to look for a radioshop that is licensed by Motorola that can program radios (most radioshops can do this). You should basically ask where you can get your Motorola HT1000 programmed. And if there are any known radioshop's in your area. You could also ask this question over at http://batboard.batlabs.com/.
