• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am having a bunch of trouble trying to get my scan list to work properly.

I have a Ht-1250 (AAH25SDF9AA5AN) with only 1 zone of 16 channels programmed. I will list the channels because it may make it easier to explain what I mean.

1. Boston Chan 1
2. Boston Area A
3. Boston Area B
4. Boston Area C
5. Boston Area D
6. Boston Area E
7. BPD Ch 8
8. BAPERN 3
9. BAPERN Centeral
10. Cambridge FD
11. Cambridge 16
12. Fire 1
13. Fire 2
14. Fire 3
15. Fire 4
16. Fire 5

I have 1 Scan list setup with all 16 channels to the personality. When the radio is scanning I leave the dial on Channel 1. If there is radio traffic on Channel 5 it will pick it up for about 2-3 seconds then resume scanning (even if there is still radio traffic). It seems like it will drop the channel, then pick it up again on the 2nd time around.

Does it make sense that I'm saying the channel is dropping during the scan?

I dont know what to have the settings set to in the scan list edit.

Thank you to any and all that can help

EDIT: Also, it is very standard programming - setup to RX only

A Mod can delete this thread. I believe I found the answer where the hang time was set to 0.

The hang time only means how long after a transmission will the radio remain on that channel before going back to scan mode.

Having a hang time of 0 means that as soon as a transmission is done, it will resume scanning right away. There are a few downfalls to this:
1. You may not hear the reply from the original transmission before it resumes scanning.
2. If the received signal drops out for so much as a fraction of a second, it will go back to scan mode.

Mine is set to 500. Time is in milliseconds, which means my radio will wait 5 seconds before resuming scan. Try changing that, and seeing if it fixes it.
