• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an HT1000 model #H01KDC9AA3CN. My department has a channel that I'm told uses an "encryption" code. We use it for traffic that we don't want aired such as tac team and serving warrants. Is the HT1000 capable of being programmed for that freq? On most the mobile radios you just have to switch to the channel, but on my mobile I have to press the encryption button or it will sound like grown ups in Charlie Brown haha. So I assume it is some sort of encryption that I need to program, but our radio guy says he doesn't know about the HT1000. Any advice?

Usually no the HT1000 is not capable of encryption.
What kind of radios is your agency using?

If the crypto sound is analog rolling code as I think the OP describes, there are some aftermarket manufacturers that offer modules for HT1000.

The department issued kenwoods and now hyt. This is why I use my moto. So I guess he never works on motos would be the reasoning behind his thinking.

Oh, Kenwood if they are using that, then that encrypted channel they are using is probably a voice scrambler code on kenwood radios. I have heard it before and it just sounds like a loud buzzing humm sound.. Maybe thats it?

Agree with the post above if they are using Kenwood and HYT I am sure they are just using the built in scrambler option.

HT1000 and most other Motorola,Kenwood,Icom,Vertex all have aftermarket scamblers that you can purchase.

They would need to be coded some what correctly to all work together.

Check out midians voice scramblers for more details.

What I meant to say is that it wasn't capable of the more advanced encryption. That is why I asked him what the agency was using as well.
It was just too early when I posted....oh well.
