Hi All,

Does anyone know if an HT1000 can be set up to page like a minitor? In other words, can you input the two sets of tones that would normally make your minitor beep, into your HT1000. I am looking at a VHF model that will do 136-174mhz for this purpose but want to know before I buy.

I know it will do CTCSS tones and PL tones but what about paging tones?

Thanks,

Rob

can that be done with intial programming or does it require a special board or parts? When it alerts, does it sound like a minitor?

Thanks for the info.

I've had a problem with trying to decode plectron tones and non-standard EIA tones.
Works great for Motorola tones only.

How do I know what our dept. uses? We have two reeds inside the minitors that activate the alert. They are in "hz"

Would that be considered standard or Non-standard?

If you can find the hz tone numbers, we can probably tell you if they'll work or not.

Also, the HT will NOT sound like a Minitor when it goes off. Most Moto HT's have a moderately-spaced 'beep-beep-beep-beep' that is no where near as loud (or as rapid) as a standard pager. I'll set up my local FD in my MTS-2000 and let you know how it sounds (should be quite similar, as they are both JEDI-series radios)...

That sounds great, thanks.

I'll open up the pager tonight and post the tones on here. Also, is the MTS2000 the same radio with an LCD display? I am looking for the model with the LCD display on top near the control dials.

The MTS2000 is a more advanced radio than the HT1000. The MT and MTS series come in 48 channel versions with the top-mounted 'starburst' displays (6 character) and 160 channel versions with a front-mounted display and a half or full DTMF keypad (14 character). If you can afford it, I highly recommend getting the MT or MTS instead. You can get the top-mount MT's at good prices on eBay because everyone is looking for the A7 'full' models (like mine).

I checked Ebay but only saw a few for sale and they wanted about $400 or more. Is this a good price? Also, the tones for my dept are as follows: P30 2260.0 Hz
P12 1036.0 Hz

You know anyone selling a MT2000 with a top display?
