Im looking to sell my HT1000 and buy a HT1250. For those that own the HT1250, Id appreciate if you could list the cons of it, and the pros. Im trying to decide if this would be a good swap or not. Thanks!

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

HT1000 vs HT1250?

Unless you have a need for more than 16 channels, I see no reason to downgrade from an HT1000 to an HT1250. I own a 1250 for lowband, and while it is a nice radio, it is nowhere near as rugged as an HT1000, and doesn't sound half as good.
If you do have a need for more than 16 channels, then look into an MTS2000, or maybe a Motorola Saber II or III.

HT1000 (or any Jedi series portable) kicks the crap out of an HT1250 or 750 audio any day.
Plus, an HT1250 goes for $275-375 (or even 400) on any given day, and HT1000s are worth about $125 or less - even more less if it's an AN or BN revision.
You'll have to sell a lot more go get a 1250. I'd stay with the HT1000. Much better audio. If you need more channels, consider an MT2000.

Personally, I would pick a HT1250 but that is only because the radio is much more modern, has more channel capacity, and many more things can be done with it.
I agree with the earlier post. If you simply need 16 channels, and nothing more, stick with the HT1000 or even consider a HT750.
Question of the day is, are these radios VHF or UHF. I would suggest trading in any HT1000 VHF for much of another however if you are wanting to trade UHF models I'd say go for it. I say that mostly for the cost of repair and ease of repair of the HT1250 vs the HT1000. The HT1000 UHF models also tend to degrade in the TX noise over time due to wear and tear of the chasis shield and the RF shield tends to get damage quite a bit in falls eventually requiring repair/replacement (that is a bear).
