• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an HT1000 (UHF) in which I swapped out the back plate that holds the battery because one of the clips on the bottom was broken. The swap out was successful and the radio powers up fine and transmits like it's supposed to. The problem is when I test it's receive capability I hear the radio key up but the audio is super low to the point where you can't make out any voice. No static just a sound that tells you it's receiving the signal but no audio. I have not hooked it up to RSS yet as I'm just about finished installing it on my Panasonic Toughbook CF-27 but anyone have any ideas as to the issue? Thanks!!!

Double check the seating of the board, and flex for speaker, it may have dirty connection or not fully slid into the connector all the way.

I am guessing you don't have a spare around to test the speaker so I'd double check that since it worked fine prior and be sure debris is clear from the speaker housing inside.

I actually did swap out the front cover (with speaker) in hopes that it was only the speaker but it didn’t change anything so it’s something more unfortunately. I’ve got a bunch of parts luckily.

So it worked fine prior to the housing bring removed? Hmmm.

When was last time tuning was done, and is the frequencit's narrow properly or wide as system you use are?

Have you inspected the board and checked any components for failure?

I'm actually not sure if it was doing it before I swapped out the back plate. I was just gonna use it for parts but once I saw someone on ebay selling Jedi Series radio parts for $20 I jumped on it. When it came it had everything I needed to swap out the back. It's got all ham radio 70cm stuff programmed on it. I have to hook it up to RSS and see what the settings are. My friend said possibly the volume or gain needs to be bumped up. Once I get it on RSS I'll see if there are changes I can make otherwise I'll give to another ham radio friend who knows more about fixing radios to look at it.
