Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I programmed a few repeaters in my HT1000
only one of the four repeaters will "open" during my transmission. The rest only "open" after I Unkey the PTT.

I confirmed I can hit said repeater with just about every other HT I own from my couch. With no problems.

Any ideas?

Have you tried calling anyone or are you simply "kerchunking"? If you are listening via another radio nearby, you are probably desensing its receiver with your HT1000.

What is the FCC callsign and what is the CTCSS and frequencies programmed into the radio?

Yup. From my experience, this sounds like the most likely cause. The repeater that does unmute is likely very strong and can overcome the desense. If you're hearing a tail after all of the repeaters, that likely means you're at least getting in. Now whether or not you're getting in well is a different question.

Hello. I heard you on 146.460 this morning. You said you were traveling from Washingtonville to Mt.Peter. Are you using a 10m in you car? or are you able to hit this repeter from up there somehow?
I live in New Windsor, and I'm trying to find a way to stay connected while I travel from NW to Rockland every day.
Thanks in advance.

Just use 146.46 and 147.075 on your commute, those two repeaters should work for you just fine.

I'm on the east side of Orange County. I travel 9w south to the palisades. I won't be able to hit the sams point repeter.
I can pick up the pomona repeter once I get past exit 16 on the palisades. And cell service is terrible, so I can't use echolink on my ride.

What is your mobile set up? Those two repeaters should cover your commute with no problem. There are others with the same commute with no issues. The 075 repeater even has a receiver on top of Mount Beacon

I just have a HT for now. I did just add a exterior antenna this weekend, but haven't tried it out yet.

OK, I have those 2a try this morning, I lose signal between the 2 repeters for about 15 min. Do you know if there is one between those 2?
Maybe I need a better external antenna? I'm using a Nagoya NA771

Using an HT in the car with just the rubber duckie is not going to give great results. With the external antenna on the outside of the car will work much better.

On the KQ2H system there are no other repeaters heading south between the 146.460 and the 147.075 repeaters.

Those two repeaters cover that commute pretty seamless when using a mobile radio with external antenna.

That 771 antenna is external. I'm thinking I might need a longer one. This one is only about 12in.

The antenna you stated you're using is not an external antenna, yes its an upgrade from the stock antenna, but its an HT antenna not a mobile antenna.

You will need an antenna that mounts on the outside of your car for optimal performance.
