Greetings,

I was able to attain an old Motorola HT1250 Radio. I’m trying to reprogram the radio with NYS Orange County Public Safety Radio System (OCPSRS) frequencies, but I not sure how to add them. Can you provide me instructions to do so using the Motorola CPS software?

I want to use the radio as a scanner and disable the PTT button.

That radio does not support trunking, you need a phase 2 scanner to monitor OCPSRS

As long as they are analog and conventional, sure

Can you send me some of the analog and conventional frequencies? I can read and write to the radio, but the frequencies do not work for me in Orange County, NY.

The frequencies are listed in the database here. What exactly are you looking for, and what band is the radio?

Why not buy a scanner instead? You can scan more channels than you can through HT1250 and yes there are still a lot of frequencies you can listen to utilizing HT1250 depending on the band of your radio. You have 16 channel uhf county fire plan, you still have many departments that have cross patched the Fire Response 1 and other talkgroups on UHF to monitor. Some of the EMS agencies like New Windsor still use VHF for dispatch and ops. So it depends where you are and also what band the radio is.

I have tried entering the frequencies listed in the data based for Orange Country NY. Most of the frequencies turned red after entering them and will give an error if trying to write to the radio. The frequencies that do save I do not receive any type of broadcast.

I know the HT1250 radio is many years old, but I was hoping to listen to any broadcast in my area.

Hi,
you still have not answered the basic question : is your HT1250 a VHF version or a UHF version ?

Either case, as said by K2NEC here above, you cannot listen to OCPSRS as this is a 700/800MHz trunked digital P25 network.

*but* as Mbk127k said here above, there are still plenty of other emergency services you *may* be able to listen to.

But we still don’t know if your HT1250 is an UHF version (which would allow listening to the “other” stuff)…
