• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

When attempting to read my HT1250 (AAH256DF9AA5AN) CPS Version R05.02.04 running on an Intel i5 1.6 Ghz, Win 10 laptop I get the message "Error 9, No response received." Radio is on with a charged battery, com port is correct. This is the first time trying to read this radio. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Win 10 is not a supported OS for the Waris series. Try win7 or winXP compatibility mode. It also may not play nice with 64bit OS

Kayn, I appreciate your guidance, however I tried the compatibility modes for both Win 7 and Win XP without success. I set the com ports as each version wanted different port (4 or 5). Perhaps the 64 bit OS is the culprit as you suggested. I don't know if I have a 32 bit machine anymore. Any other possible solutions? I have never had these problems, though it has been a little while since I have used CPS.

As said it is the OS and the 64 bit machine.

It's handy to have a 32bit older one around for equipment they are pretty cheap on flea bay.

Also handy if you're into the way older lines to have a true dos windows 3.1x around.

Double check your radios accessory connector.
My warris radios were always prone to have dirty connectors. Cleaning them off usually resulted in correct reads.
I was also using an older/ slower computer and DB9 connector with smart rib.

I program all of my 220MEG 1250's and my UHF CDM's on a 64 bit machine but not above win8.1 with no issues.

This sounds to be a CPS win-10 and a CPS usb driver incompatability issue more than a pc 32/64 bit issue.

I run the software on an up to date WIN 10 machine with no issues. Use a cable with an FTDI chipset.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and have no problems.
You MUST USE Prolific 3.2.0.0 as MWW85 said. But
I can almost remember hearing that R06.12.05 & .08
both have issues with Windows 10. I use R06.12.05
