The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Has anyone used chirp with the ht1250 addon to change their radio? If so can you tell me what these options represent
or someone who might know what options could have been on the radio compared to what I have. Dose anyone know what these would represent I know they are just the signaling zones but they don’t label exactly what they are.
I’m trying to decide if I would want to add the rest or remove them to make room for other channels.

No idea, but you do know that the Pro series CPS is out there on the internet if you look under the right rocks, right?

Much easier to program these radios with the software that was designed for them.

Yeah, I got that. Sounds like you were trying to take it out of band.

That can be done with CPS and some hex editing that is not really hard.
Just remember, taking it out of band sometimes requires realignment to make it function. That's not something you can do without the correct test equipment. It's why others suggested getting one with the correct bandsplit you need.

Excellent. Sounds like someone has figured it out.

I don't use Chirp, and I don't usually take radios out of band. I'm just offering some guidance on how to do this correctly. I'm wary of amateur work arounds with professional gear. But I know hams like to push the limits. If that works for you, then go for it.

I don't know what those specific bits are used for. What I can say is that the trunking feature on these radios is usually Passport and you are not likely to be using that without a Passport system to connect to.
The signalling used on these radios is MDC1200, DTMF or 2 tone. Not sure which bit applies to which. If you are not going to use those, I wouldn't mess with them.

The W9CR and RepeaterBuilder write-ups are perfect for OOB on the HT1250 series radios. I have one on 6m with that modification.
